More than 300 routes out of Copenhagen Airport in the summer programme

Some 2.2 million passengers passed through Copenhagen Airport in March, and ahead lies Easter with many more travellers. The airlines just launched their summer programme offering no less than 315 direct routes from Copenhagen to destinations around the world.

The spring season is off to a good start at Copenhagen Airport. A total of 2.228 million passengers passed through the terminals in March. This equals the number of passengers in the same month of 2024, when Easter fell in March rather than in April, as it does in 2025.

“This year, Easter falls later than it did last year. Despite this, we experienced a keen desire for travel in March. A lot of people want to travel – including tourists visiting Copenhagen and other parts of Denmark,” says Peter Krogsgaard, Chief Commercial Officer of Copenhagen Airports A/S.

Danes make up 35 per cent of passengers at Copenhagen Airport. The rest are other nationalities, with Swedes, Americans, Brits and Norwegians making up the majority of travellers.

6,163 million passengers passed through Copenhagen Airport in the first three months of 2025, which was six per cent more than in the year-earlier period.

31 new routes added to the summer programme
At the changeover to daylight saving time on 30 March, the airlines switched to their summer traffic programme, adding 31 new routes from Copenhagen – 21 of them operated by SAS. So far, this means that there are a total of 315 routes out of Copenhagen to 171 different destinations over the summer.

“The airlines’ summer programme is full of exciting new destinations. We are very pleased that the airlines choose to establish new routes out of Copenhagen Airport, and that several of the routes are even to brand new destinations in Scandinavia, Europe, North America and Asia. This gives travellers from Denmark and southern Sweden more travel options around the world and – just as importantly – gives foreign tourists and business travellers from around the globe easier access to Copenhagen and the rest of Denmark,” says Krogsgaard.

The vast majority of the new routes are to destinations in Europe, which make up more than 85 per cent of the total traffic from Copenhagen Airport. Four of this summer’s new routes are to overseas destinations, with Delta Airlines launching a service to the US city of Minneapolis and SAS opening new routes to Seattle, Nuuk and Seoul.

Norwegian strengthening its presence in Copenhagen
In connection with the summer traffic programme, Norwegian is strengthening its position at Copenhagen Airport. The airline is launching four new routes and is introducing direct flights from Copenhagen to Bratislava, Newcastle, Sarajevo and Tangier.

“With a 16 per cent share of total passengers, Norwegian is one of the largest airlines at Copenhagen Airport. It is very positive that Norwegian continues to grow at CPH. This time with four new routes – and two of them to new destinations not previously served from Copenhagen,” says Krogsgaard.

Including the four new routes, Norwegian has 77 direct routes to and from Copenhagen this summer.

Busy Easter period ahead
Mid-April marks the beginning of Easter, which is a busy period at Copenhagen Airport. This year, we expect about 1 million passengers to pass through the airport over the Easter break, representing a 19.5 per cent year-on-year increase.

“This extended public holiday period is an ideal time for a getaway, and we see a great appetite for travel. There will be days during Easter that will rival the busy days in summer, when we have in excess of 100,000 travellers at the airport. We are well prepared and look forward to giving our many customers a good experience,” says Krogsgaard.

The busiest days will be Friday 11 April with about 105,000 passengers and Sunday 27 April with 104,000 passengers using Copenhagen Airport.

Prepare your trip and arrive at the airport on time
For a good start to the holiday, Copenhagen Airport advises all passengers to arrive at the airport on time, i.e. two hours before departure for European destinations and three hours before departure for destinations farther afield.

It is a good idea to check in from home, if possible, and to use the many self-service solutions available at the airport.
